Ceiling plastering

Above your head you see every bump, especially in the attic, where the light from the roof window falls at an angle along the sloping ceiling. We plaster ceilings smooth, including sloping attic ceilings and around a roof window or beam.

Where it goes wrong with ceilings

You do not look at a ceiling straight on. That is exactly why a fault only stands out when the light goes on.

  • Seams and drill holes that stay visible

    A concrete ceiling with seams, ceiling panels with grooves, old drill holes: if they are not properly worked over, they show through the paint.

  • A crooked transition in the attic

    Where the sloping ceiling meets the flat part, you see every kink. On DIY forums that is a well-known complaint.

  • Doing it yourself, above your head

    Plastering a ceiling is heavy work, with your arms up the whole time. Small mistakes stand out straight away in the light from a window or lamp.

  • Splashes on the floor and frames

    Plastering overhead causes splashes. Afterwards you do not want plaster on the floor and the window frames that you have to scrape off yourself.

How long does a plastered ceiling need to dry before I can paint?
That differs per job: a thick coat or a room with poor ventilation dries more slowly. Feel free to ask us.
